East London - in person and online

"Every person's life is worth a novel." (Erving Polster)

What is your story? Do you need a new perspective? Perhaps you would like to move on towards ambitions, but anxieties are taking up your time and energy instead. Maybe life changes have shaken your world, or you need to make a big decision. Some of what brings you here might be mental health struggles, and some of it might be the situation you are in.

I have been privileged to work with many individuals faced with challenges like these over nearly 20 years. I believe that psychotherapy should be a creative and collaborative process in a safe, accepting therapeutic space.

Can I help you retell your life story in a more helpful way? Together we can look back at past events with interest and kindness to yourself, and I can offer the mix of support and challenge that will assist you in moving away from being stuck in a repetitive cycle.

My training is in Integrative Psychotherapy, in which I have an MSc from Metanoia Institute in London, and I am registered with the UKCP (United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy).

I am a person-centred therapist, interested in narrative approaches, attachment and mentalisation-based therapy. You might find my approach suits you if you are inspired by creative metaphor and imagery. Using different language can help you discover surprising new points of view.

I have been working as a psychotherapist and counsellor in London for many years.

I work near Dalston Kingsland station, Haggerston Station, Stoke Newington, Hackney.

Is psychotherapy for you?

Many people find they do not give themselves time to take stock. Counselling and psychotherapy give you a weekly opportunity to have your own time to reflect, and by reclaiming your story you may discover new perspectives on past, present and future.

I work both short and long term with people who are hoping to find a forum to talk about a wide range of different issues. These include anxiety, panic attacks, depression, dysthymia, phobias, OCD, bipolar disorder, post traumatic stress disorder, issues relating to becoming a father or mother, parenting, menopause, ageing and work-related mental health issues. I also have interest in problems associated with neurodiversity, and Asperger syndrome/high functioning autism in adults. I have also worked with many people who are working through the aftermath of adverse events in childhood such as sexual abuse or neglect.

I also have an interest in working with people studying psychotherapy and counselling.

I aim to offer myself as an interested, interactive and experienced partner in your journey towards the goals we negotiate together and the ultimate goals of personal insight and ability to move forwards in life.

I work from a large, peaceful room at HQ Therapy on Kingsland High Street, near Dalston Kingsland station.

About my approach

Qualifications

Psychotherapy for Dalston, East London

Outline of my approach:

I am an experienced and accredited psychotherapist. My training is in Integrative Psychotherapy. I am interested in narrative approaches to psychotherapy. My fascination is with how a person talks about and describes their life. I tend to focus on the words people use, and images that they use to describe their experiences. Sometimes we will talk about long ago and far away, and other times we may talk about what's happening right now.
